Do you grow all of the Lemna and BabyGreens on your family farm in Pennsylvania?
All of our protein-packed and nutrient-dense Lemna and BabyGreens are hand-tended from seed to harvest on our family-owned urban hydroponic farm in Bristol, PA, USA. We're not middlemen and don't "source" our veggies from a third-party.
Well, basically it's Mother Nature's most complete vegetable source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. You've seen it before...it's a small aquatic plant that grows densely on ponds and in streams around the world. And like a lot of things that are good for us (looking at you dandelion) people kill it because it multiplies quickly. But it is EXTREMELY good for you. We grow it hydroponically indoors, away from the elements and environmental contaminants...nurtured with vegan nutrients, bathed in renewable-energy light, in food-safe trays . It requires no seeding because it clones itself, doubling in mass every 2 days or so. And since we only grow small-batch/on-demand, you are assured of receiving the most optimally nutritious, clean, and safe Lemna available anywhere.
Cool! What about the BabyGreens...which ones do you grow for customers?
We grow over 50 varieties of BabyGreens. We primarily specialize in dark-leafs like Red Rose Cabbage. Pound for pound it is one of the most nutrient-dense of all the varieties we have tested.
You mentioned you only grow small-batch/on-demand to meet each individual customer's specific nutrient requirements. What's that all about?
Because we grow hydroponically, we have a very unique advantage over conventional farmers. We can control the type and amount of every nutrient we feed our Lemna and BabyGreens. That means we can naturally control everything they metabolize. For example, if you have an iron deficiency, we can increase the amount of iron we feed the individual small-batch we grow for you. Same goes with all of the other nutrients...potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc...well you get the idea.
I suffer from kidney ailments and must limit my potassium intake. Can you grow low-potassium Lemna and BabyGreens while not sacrificing other nutrients?
YES! Custom growing is our specialty.
Because we grow hydroponically, we can increase, or in this case decrease, any and all of our vegan mineral nutrient inputs. All done without sacrificing other minerals and vitamins.
Mineral and vitamin supplements/pills are ineffective...are the nutrients from your Lemna and BabyGreens plant metabolized?
Nutrients are most potent when they come from food, not supplements. "They are accompanied by many nonessential but beneficial nutrients, such as hundreds of carotenoids, flavonoids, minerals, and antioxidants that aren't in most supplements," according to Dr. Clifford Lo, an associate professor of nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force does not support vitamin and mineral supplements to ward off disease (click here to read the source document).
Why is your Beyond Organic better then Organic?
There are absolutely zero pesticides and herbicides on our farm. We do not use any
“-cides” on any of our protein-packed and nutrient-dense Lemna and BabyGreens .
Don’t forget, standard ‘organic’ allows for the use of toxic “-cides” that are lethal to living/beneficial insects like bees. We simply don't use them.
Are all of your Lemna and BabyGreens 100% Vegan?
All of our protein-packed and nutrient-dense Lemna and BabyGreens are truly 100% vegan. There are absolutely zero animal-derived byproducts on our farm. So no risk of antibiotics, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, pharmaceuticals, hormones, or pathogens that are associated with animal-based fertilizers They are not used in our growing medium and not used in our nutrients that feed and nurture our protein-packed and nutrient-dense Lemna and BabyGreens. We simply don't use them.
Do you use any GMO inputs?

We are fully registered with and inspected by the Pennsylvania Dep’t of Agriculture.
Is your family owned farm considered Sustainable?
EcoChoice100 Pennsylvania supplies our farm with 100% renewable electricity
(99% wind power and 1% solar power).
Also, after hand-harvesting our protein-packed and nutrient-dense Lemna and BabyGreens, we compost and donate the used coco coir, leftover roots/stems, and nutrient water to local community gardens in Bucks County, PA. From seed to harvest, nothing is wasted!
Ok, but are your growing methods Sustainable?
We are way more water-efficient than dairy, animal or other plant-based proteins.
For example, our protein-packed and nutrient-dense Lemna consumes only 1 liter of water to produce 1 gram of protein.
According to a 2010 UNESCO Institute for Water Education Study, it takes a whopping 112 liters of water to produce 1 gram of beef protein: (pork - 57 liters, chicken - 34 liters, milk - 31 liters, and eggs - 29 liters). Click here to read the source document.
Are you an agri-technology company?
We're indoor, urban, hydroponic farmers. We don't have advanced agri-tech or proprietary cultivation algorithms. We didn't spend years on R&D (although we do have a really cool hydroponic growing system we built ourselves). We don't need lab coats, scientists, or petri dishes to grow protein-packed and nutrient-dense Lemna and BabyGreens . We don’t make products. We don’t make supplements. We are not a processor. We just have a lot of fun and love what we do!! So no, we’re definitely not a “agri-technology” company.
How do you use the Lemna and BabyGreens powders?
